I can, technically, file your application but I am not yet licensed to be an immigration consultant. Please google for consultants that are licensed with IRCC and choose one of them.
Alternatively, you can register on the Canadavisa Immigration Forum, go through various boards and start understanding the process.

It’s not easy. What you should be getting is not just a job offer. You should be getting a job offer backed by a positive LMIA. Not many employers would be willing to do that for someone who is just beginning the process of getting their visa. Wiser options would be to get better IELTS scores or go for PNP.

Hello Raj
Thank you, for sharing your knowledge and experience.
Would you be able to assist me with teh below query?
I have submitted my transcripts to WES ( BE & ME), however they have put in my application in hold with the following reason
Statement of Marks, Bachelor of Engineering, 2002
Incomplete
Reason: The document received only contains a partial record of study completed leading toward your final qualification. We are missing information for your program. We have a transcript that begins in semester 2.
The challenge, is during my academic period we didnt had something like semester 1, rather it was a full year and the exams were conducted at the end of year and awarded as sem2
So how can I respond back to WES and request them to proceed with the application.
Thanks in advance.

Oh boy, this is a tricky one. You can probably explain this to the University and get a letter from them to convince WES that what you are telling them is true.

Hi Raj,
Firts off, thanks A LOT for this blog, it’s super helpful! 🙂
I’m creating my Express Entry profile but I see there some requirements to do so; such as the english test en the WES certificate, and I have a lot of inquiries regarding that subject that you may know better:
– Since you need to do the english test BEFORE you star, that means that YOU HAVE TO GO TO CANADA to do so BEFORE creating an EE Profile, am I right?
– I studied Graphic Arts in the university for over 4 years, nevertheless, I had to emigrate before I graduated even though I finished all my courses. I can get a transcript from my University, not a problem, but what results do you think WES would give me (If they can do something with my ‘incompleted’ degree) if they take it?
Thanks in advance

Why do you have to go to Canada before you create your Express Entry profile? IELTS and ECA can be done from where you are. You should give the “Express Entry in a nutshell” post a read to understand the basics of the process.
Graduation must have been complete. If it is an incomplete degree, unfortunately, you can’t claim points for this credential and hence are ineligible to apply for Express Entry (unless you have another post-secondary diploma, certificate or degree).

My EE profile became ineligible because it passed one year; not because of IELTS. So, I just recreated a new profile and sent them the profile number and other details. I got my nomination on my new profile.

Hi Raj,
Would the timeline for express entry via Federal Skilled worker program be much quicker than OINP?
Your timeline from application to receiving your green card took more than two years. I thought this was going to take around 6 months after an ITA (assuming you had all the documents ready). Am I missing anything here?

LikeLike
6 months is the time by which they hope to complete 80% of the applications. Plus, if you don’t have enough CRS points, nomination is one of the best routes you can take.
PS: It’s not called green card here in Canada. That’s for the US. Its permanent resident visa that you get at the end of the process. This is a single entry visa. After you enter Canada on this visa, your PR card will be processed and mailed to you in a couple of months. Canadian PR card is colloquially known as “Maple leaf card”.

Hi Raj, kudos to you for doing a fantastic job here as well as on canadavia forum. I needed some clarity from you on the education section of the EE profile. I have my IELTS score as well as WES ECA assessment. My academic evaluation by WES is as follows;
CANADIAN EQUIVALENCY SUMMARY
Bachelor’s degree (three years) and bachelor’s degree (four years).
Bachelor of Commerce (3 Years) from India – Canadian Equivalency: Bachelor’s degree (three years)
Master of Business Economics (2 Years) from India – Canadian Equivalency: Bachelor’s degree (four years)
Now, in the education history section of EE profile, how should I indicate both levels of education ? Also, can you suggest what should I choose as the field of study for my masters level as I could not trace any economics related option in the drop down menu.
Also, should i start putting in the details with the masters level first and then bachelors ?
Thanks in advance

You have to choose 2 or more degrees. You have to mention both these degrees and the Canadian equivalency would be bachelor’s for both. You’ll get points for “2 or more degrees”.

Thanks Raj. Still not clear where to select the two or more degree option. The drop-down menu in Level of education has no such option. Am i to select ‘Bachelor degree OR three or more year program………’ in the list ?

You have to make 2 rows. One for your bachelors and the other for your Masters but the Canadian equivalency for both would be bachelors. The system will calculate points for both your degrees.

You get points for the highest degree only. If you have a degree that is equivalent to a Canadian Masters, you get points for that. But if all your degrees are evaluated to be being bachelors, you claim points for 2 or more degrees.

The reports are not standard. The evaluations differ. It is likely that your MCA would be treated as being equivalent to another bachelors. So you might be eligible to claim points for 2 or more degrees.

I have no idea! You have to wait for your report. Also, the grading doesn’t work that way. When calculating the CRS, depending on other factors like IELTS and work experience – having a Masters gives you much more points than having bachelors or “2 or more degrees”.

It’s hard to find an employer when you don’t have a visa/PR. Think about it. Why would an employer go through all the pain oh applying for a visa for someone who is in another country, get an LMIA approved from the government and then wait for that person to come to Canada to work while they can simply hire people like PRs/people with a work visa who are already in Canada? That’s a tough nut to crack. Getting better IELTS scores or going through a PNP are better options.

<pHi ,
CLB 9 in deed a bigger and biggest challenge for everyone in general , because it requires tedious amount of work and one need to dedicate themselves , like immersion in to this because couple of mistakes in listening is gonna be one heck of process , well through partner clb 8 would be enough if not 4 + month of rigorous amount of preparation required . daily 4 to 7 hours of study collection of material everywhere and going to institute , practice practice practice a lot of questions . Listening is one part they made life one heck . 37-38 out of 40 is really one big thing . i would say total involvement and leave everything and study study , if i would do the same because that’s how one can get clb 9 or the other solution is learn french . download the apps start right basics . yes for sure it one hell but those 4 points is a golden egg for every one . All the best .
**********
Kish don’t get this the wrong way but I do see that a lot can be improved in your writing. Its not very bad but it could be much better! That will help you get good scores in writing. Below is how I would deliver a similar message –
**********
CLB 9 is indeed a big deal. It is a real challenge for everyone in general because it requires tedious practice and one needs to put in a lot of time and effort to get that score. This is because something as simple as making a couple of mistakes in listening is going to be catastrophic. The difference between CLB-8 and CLB-9 is approximately 35 points. In my opinion, 4 months of rigorous preparation is required to achieve the score. Preparing everyday for at least an hour and going to a language institute, if required, can help with the scores. Listening is the part that gives me a really hard time. Scoring 38/40 is really tough in my opinion. I would say put in your best efforts and go for it; I’d do the same. That kind of work, in my opinion, is a prerequisite to get a CLB-9 in IELTS. We could also learn French but that gives us just 4 points (you have to write and pass TEF).
**********
Hope that helps! Good luck! If you need any help, please let me know!

Well, everything we do is a challenge. If we need points, we have to work towards it. I’m not saying its easy, it is doable though! I had to practice in the weekends for 2 months and I got through the first time. Learning French doesn’t give you points just like that! You have to write and pass TEF for you to get points! Well, learning a new language and becoming fluent enough in it in a short time to pass the test for just 4 points sounds silly to me! English is a language we’ve been using and if we can’t perform in that, how do you expect to learn a new language and pass a test in that? Not practical. What is practical though is working on your English skills and getting a good IELTS score! My 2¢.

you are absolutely right . Those inputs which you have given worth a ton , yes until and unless some one points one can’t improve . That is a valid point i will work for it , I would at least give my self a 6 points in IELTS but that’s not sufficient . For a guy like me i need to struggle in and out probably 7 hours a day if i want to see my self in 67 points bench mark , given age factor . yes french language that is one heck of thing . And i am seeing my self how hard it is to learn a new language and get immersed . Though 4 points is what we think , but isn’t that easy . you gotta be out there and put one thing in your mind that there is no looking back . For me this is only one option left , no one if it does takes 1 year or so from today but some where or the other those 4 points would land me in 67 zone . I need to improve a lot of my writing skills i totally agree with you , well hopefully i can do a lot of better in the coming days . Thanks once again for the suggestion .

————————————–
For IELTS-GENERAL,
Google “Register IELTS . You should book IELTS general and not academic.
You get maximum points for 3 years of work experience. Please research job bank and other websites to see which provinces need people with your speciality. Getting a job when still not in Canada is very unlikely but possible. Moreover, FYI, your occupation might most likely be licensed in almost all provinces in Canada so you can’t start working in that field without getting a license. And no, you cannot get that license whilst you are not in Canada, AFAIK.
First, you have to know how the process works and know what your CRS is. Then decide if you need PNP. Check out the “Express Entry in a nutshell” post on this blog to know more about the process. You can refer this for PNP –

Hi Raj, hope you are well. Can you please offer me some advice on the following:
Got an ITA and applied for PCC – India through VFS at Consulate General India Edinburgh as I currently live in Scotland, UK. I have an Indian passport which has a Bangalore address where I was living while working there and it was a rented flat. Obviously, I no longer live there and my family lives in New Delhi. So while submitting PCC application, I have entered my permanent address as my family’s address in Delhi.
My understanding is for Indian living abroad, PCC applications through their local embassy/consulate would be forwarded to the concerned passport-issuing authority (PIA) in India. In my case, I believe that would be Bangalore. So, will this be a concern ? I mean I do not know how they check records (in case of PCC for Indians abroad) but do the police visit the address and check ? I am not even sure who is living there now and whether the people I knew in the building are still living or have moved on. Basically, if the address on your passport is not your permanent address, will it be an issue ?
Secondly, while submitting PCC application, lady at VFS counter said there is no defined timeline for getting PCC – may take any number of months – 1, 2, 4, 6 etc. As the ITA for PR is valid for 90 days and assuming PCC does not come, I believe there is a way to seek extension. What is generally the period of extension, if given ? and if i demonstrate that I have actually applied for PCC and still waiting (through receipts and acknowledgement) will they actually give me an extension ?
LikeLike
Well, I went to PSK and they told me if the address on passport is not the same as my current residential address, then they’d issue the PCC after physical police verification (police come to your residence to make sure that’s where you live). I agreed.
However, for people living abroad, I don’t think there will be police verification because you obviously don’t live in the address on the passport nor do you live in any other address in the country. So I don’t think that’s how it works. As long as you don’t have a case on file, you should be good to go AFAIK.
While that’s a very irresponsible response from VFS, yes, you can seek an extension. How you do that is, submit the application with all the other documentation and in the place of PCC, upload a LOE to explain your situation and submit a receipt to show that you’ve applied for PCC well in advance. Submit the application close to the 90 day mark if you don’t get your PCC. They, in this case, will generally start processing your application and then send you a request to upload your PCC at a later point in time. I’ve seen this work for US PCC s but technically, it should work for other PCC s as well.
Caution: This is a little bit risky but that’s the best shot you got for buying you time for PCC.
Good luck and all the very best!

Hi Raj,
You are doing a good job Raj, giving ur time & knowledge. Much Appreciated!! let me give a brief intro about me. I went to one country to do my masters and tried my maximum to get work permit. But nothing worked and came back to India. After my marriage, tried another country again and went there on student visa again. Tried several ways to get PR and unfortunately couldn’t and finally end up in India. now we are thinking to file Canada Immigration. I know it sounds funny but me and my husband don’t want to give up. If you could help us out in our small battle by giving some guidance, it would be really grateful. If you can send your email ID to lizsama2012@gmail.com we would discuss more. Please help!! Thank you in advance, Liz

Hi Raj, Thank you for your reply. We are still confused about who should be the primary applicant as my husband is nearing 40 next year and I am 34 years old. Also, a couple of months ago, he took PTE and got 75 score and the IELTS test is on the way. He is an MBA in Finance, got more than 8 years of work experience. In my case, I am B Pharm and Masters, my Ielts score was 6.5 and I worked only for 3 years as a Pharmacist. Which profile you would recommend is the best to be filed.

The person who gets at least 67/100 in the points scale AND gets the maximum CRS should be the primary applicant.

You should send the package that you received from the University as-is.

Wat i am confused is about i cannot go to the university and ask for a new one again as it has been already issued in the past year 2013. Pls let me know if it is enough to get true copy certified by the registrar and send it to wes with the seal and stamp. Also to mention the first time i got the transcript in 2013 took 3 months to get it. Thanks

You aren’t going to send the original degree document or mark sheets. Any reasonable University will issue as many transcripts as the University wants. I’ve never ever heard of a University that has a policy of issuing transcripts just once. Just curious, what’s the name of the University that issued your degree?

Hi Raj,
Why can’t you write an article on explaining your experience post landing in Canada like getting a temporary accommodation immediately after landing and how to get a place to live later, and how to search and find a job there. What Candian employer is expecting from an applicant?
It would be great if you write an article on the above-requested topics.

Nothing happens fast. You have to go through the process, get your documents ready, take the language test and apply. Go through the “Express Entry in a nutshell” post to understand how the process works. Having a sibling in Canada does increase your score a little but it doesn’t make it “fast”.

Everything should be done before submission as far as Express Entry is concerned. The e-APR should contain all the necessary documents including medicals before it can be submitted.

Hi Raj, can you please help me with the below three questions?
1. PNP – Presume the OINP is for Ontario. Do we need to apply it separately or it is included in EE profile, when we select the Ontario province.
2. Proof of funds – Is it enough if we attach our bank statement with the required funds in our account or do we need to deposit the funds in Canadian banks. Because one of my friend who went to do His Master’s had to deposit the amount as a proof of fund.
3. I got WES validated for my Bachelor’s degree. Now I am planning to apply WES for Master’s as I completed it recently. Can i use the same WES reference or do I need to apply for a fresh WES reference. Thanks much for your time and patience to reply my query. Though I read in other forums about these points, I want to reaffirm my findings and hence asking you. Thanks much again in advance.

1) You have to get an invite from them first to be able to apply.
2) Statement and bank letter will do.
3) You can request WES to update the same report.

Hi Raj,
Thanks for doing such a wonderful job here! Bless you!
I am looking for some advice on my situation. I and my wife applied for PR in Dec’17 and have been asked by Canadian embassy to submit our passports on 30th Apr.
During this time, we have also come to know that we are expecting, and the date of delivery would be in Sep’18.
Due to personal reasons, we would prefer the child to be born in India. So, we are planning to go to Canada, start the PR process, come back to India and ask one of our friends to mail us our PR cards.
My query is whether it would be easier for me to go alone right now (considering that my wife is 5 months pregnant) and add both wife and child later as dependents, or should I take my wife along right now and then add only the child as dependent later on.
I don’t know how easy or difficult it would be to add my wife later on as a dependent. I also don’t know whether there might be any repercussion in case my wife gets a COPR and then does not go for a PR.
Please guide!

Congrats!
I would strongly recommend that both of you activate your PR status by landing in Canada! In case your wife does not land and her visa/COPR expires, she either has to apply from scratch or you have to sponsor her as a dependent – these are time consuming and cumbersome processes that can be avoided. You can land and maybe stay for a week, get SIN and head back. After the child is born, you have to sponsor the child as a dependent.
Good luck!

Age – 22 Years
Education – 4 years – Bachelors in Engineering in the field of Information Technology
Work exp – 1 year (After graduation, planning to reach Canada by January 2019 and by that time, it would become 1.5 Years)

I am looking for Canada PR process details.
My profile is as above. Please check and evaluate my profile and confirm if i am eligible to apply for Canada Express Entry program. Also, what additional things are needed to upgrade my profile to make chances of PR higher and stronger in my case.
This is really important as i am looking forward to join January 2019 intake for a post Graduation program in Canada.

Hello Karan,
As much as I would love to evaluate the profile, I (unfortunately) don’t have the time to do so.
A good scenario would be being less than 30 years of age, having at least 3 years of work experience with a bachelors (Masters is even better) and score CLB-9 in IELTS general (8777 LRWS).
Please read through the “Express Entry in a nutshell” post to get an idea of what the process is like. Once you read your post you should be able to calculate your CRS and also check if you are eligible. Good luck.

You can’t apply as “single”. However, you can apply as “married” and Mark your spouse as a “non-accompanying dependant” and you’ll be awarded points similar to a single applicant. In that case, your spouse would not be able to come to Canada with you. Once you get your PR, you have to go through the spousal sponsorship process in order to get your spouse to Canada.
2) It is okay if it overlaps. As long as you can demonstrate full-time (or equivalent part time), paid work experience in an occupation under NOC 0,A or B, you should be good to go.

Hi Raj, i have been reading different forum discussions and a lot say that in the EE profile and e-APR, you only need to declare work experience you are claiming points for under “Work History”, and that other work experience, which you have not claimed points for, may be listed under “Personal History”. Can you please confirm if this correct? Will this not be considered misrepresentation?
Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks!

I wouldn’t recommend if it would be considered misrepresentation. And yeah, that is correct because work history and education history section are just for the sake of claiming points. Whatever job/degree is not giving you points has no place in those sections.

My exact query is that after create profile how I will get noticed/picked by any provinces for PNP nomination as there are many provinces. I meant to say how I will choose any provinces in my express entry profile to get PNP nomination, is there any options to select provinces in Express Entry profile Creation as I have not still created my profile for Pool. Or should I do I take care any important things to get early nomination in any Provisions during in Express Entry Pool. Please guide me bro. Thanking you

Well, check this link! This might be outdated a bit but it’ll give you the crux.
https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/summary-of-eligibility-requirements-for-all-express-entry-pnp-streams.432937/
You can also discuss this with the people who are currently applying. There might have been a lot of changes in the application process from when I applied.
For PNP, you have to initiate the process for many provinces (except for Ontario, for instance, where you have to wait for them to send you a NOI).
You can select “All provinces” option when you create your EE profile.

Which stream did you apply under? This is not a ‘rejected’ application. It is a ‘returned’ application which means no file was created on the system for you and there’s no UCI generated.

1. Do you have an idea, if the immigration officer in charge of one’s application, will take into consideration, the applicant’s JOB ANNUAL INCOME (i.e. from the letter gotten from employer); when making a decision to ascertain whether your proof of funds is ‘genuine’?

I would strongly recommend having those two on the reference letter. You can submit the payslips and they will act as supporting documentation. I got it notarized because I saw the need to ‘prove’ the documents were authentic because it was not on the letterhead. Its up to you whether you get it notarized or not.
The EE documentation checklist has mentioned this requirement (annual salary on the reference letter) –

Hi Mr.Raj,
Anna university sent my documents to WES Canada. My name is given as Priya Devi M in my academic certificates. After marriage, I changed my surname to “Priya Devi Ramesh” and updated the same in the passport. But while creating WES account, I used the name in academics “Priya Devi M.” Just now, I came to know from some facebook groups that I should give my passport name, and WES will add a discrepancy that “name doesn’t match.” For this, I should provide an LOE in EE profile.
Now please tell shall I get my report under “Priya Devi M” or ask for a refund and create a new WES application with passport name i,e, “Priya Devi Ramesh” and get the report.
Kindly help me with this.
I have one more doubt; In my old passport instead of a single letter “M” as a surname, they wrote MOHAS DASS(father’s name) so as per my old passport, my name is “Priya Devi Mohan Dass.” Passport authority of India will not accept the single letter as a surname, so my father’s full name was given. But, now after marriage, I have updated my passport with my husband’s name.
My question is:
Should I upload my old passport while creating EE profile
Should I mention “Priya Devi Mohan Dass” in LOE, i.e., why instead of “Priya Devi M” I have “Priya Devi Mohan Dass.”
Should I give “Priya Devi Mohan Dass” also in my same person affidavit along with “Priya Devi M” “Priya Devi Ramesh.”
